Frassati Young Adult Group
As human beings created in God’s image, we are built for community and that is just what you will find at St. Mary’s Church – a faith community that wants to know you, support you and walk with you on your journey. The Frassati Young Adults group is a place where you can share your faith, find community and pray together.
We have a Social Leadership Team in which our team organise intentional socials for our group. The socials have include hikes with food after, pizza and games night in a pub, meeting for Mass on Sunday in St Mary’s with brunch and walk after, ice skating at Christmas and many more.
Everyone is welcome at The Frassati Young Adults gatherings and bring your friends along.
At the beginning of the Book of Jeremiah, the Lord speaks to Jeremiah calling him to be a prophet to God’s people. Jeremiah is hesitant, afraid, and gives excuses that he is too young, but the Lord replies in chapter 1, verse 7: “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Be not afraid of them, for I am with you.”
The Lord says that to each of us: ‘Be not afraid’.
Why is our Young Adult Group named after Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati?
Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901-1925) was a young Italian man, was an Italian young person who was affectionately called the “Man of the Beatitudes” by Saint John Paul II. He was a member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic. He was known and loved for his joy, good humour, athleticism, his care for the poor and for challenging his friends in their path of virtue. He was a man animated by the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. “The faith given to me in baptism suggests to me surely: of yourself you will do nothing, but if you have God as the center of all your action, then you will reach the goal.” Pier Giorgio Frassati knew the secret to living life, placing God at the centre of his life.
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Pray for us!
“By his example, he proclaims that a life lived in Christ’s Spirit, the Spirit of the Beatitudes, is ‘blessed’, and that only the person who becomes a ‘man or woman of the Beatitudes’ can succeed in communicating love and peace to others. He repeats that it is really worth giving up everything to serve the Lord. He testifies that holiness is possible for everyone, and that only the revolution of charity can enkindle the hope of a better future in the hearts of the people.”
