Children’s Ministry
We have two groups that meet after our 9:30am Sunday Mass
Good Shepard (3-8yrs)
Our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, run by mothers and Nuns, uses the Montessori Method of Education as a guide. Benefitting from Montessori’s deep insight, knowing that if the child was to be helped to approach and experience the presence of God, founding members of Good Shepherd Catechesis felt the message had to be materialised in some concrete way. Using the children’s senses, as Montessori do and offering them opportunities for movement, Mass furnishings low in size are prepared which served as tangible instruments for the child’s encounter with God.
Catechism (10-12yrs)
Our Catechism on Sundays, run by trained mothers, is an introduction to the teachings of the Catholic Church for children (10-12 years). Using various resources, the Children are encouraged to explore their faith and ask questions, which normally helps to initiate an exciting conversation with them about Jesus, the sacraments, prayer, and more.
Aquinas Classical Academy
Also on St Mary’s Campus is a new primary school Aquinas Classical Academy. Catholic classical education is the cultivation of faith and reason for full human flourishing. Based in the liberal arts and sciences, this educational vision that was developed by the Catholic Church was the gold standard of formation for centuries.
